THE OLD VICARAGE, STITHIANS

A redevelopment of the vicarage grounds near the ancient church of St Stithians; this large granite family house sits within the original old walls of the glebe land.

Brief:

Landscaping with clean lines and a contemporary vision to sit in contrast to the old granite masonry and cottage planting. We were required to upgrade existing paving as the composite stone product proved slippery when wet, the bespoke designed BBQ needed an overhaul also.

Solution:

An Italian porcelain was chosen to provide a clean, reflective hard surface that would also be high performance in the wet Cornish conditions. A contrast of Silver Contro for the main body of paving, framed with Trendy Black defined the large, entertaining space under an expansive green oak pergola. The BBQ feature was clad with Moorish-pattern designed porcelain tiles that sit well against the old granite walls in the dappled sunlight.

Outcome:

These surfaces provide a fantastic back drop to an easy-to-maintain entertaining area for the resident family. The neutral tones allow the eye to rest while the main visual attraction of the garden comes from the mature planting surrounding the space and over head.
